Description of action

In Europe, fuel poverty affects an increasing number of disadvantaged households who have little access to energy-efficient solutions. The absence of specific financial mechanisms and the lack of social support on the ground are often identified as serious constraints on projects aimed at improving the energy efficiency of these households' homes and appliances.

Since 2007, GERES has been co-ordinating a European project initiated on the theme of energy poverty.  With 6 partners in 5 European countries, the FinSH "Financial and support instruments for fuel poverty in Social Housing" programme aims to break down existing financial and social barriers to give disadvantaged households the opportunity to renovate their homes and possess energy-saving appliances.

The publication of a guide containing recommendations introduces the activities and approaches identified as relevant during the project.
