As part of its AGIR programme, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) Regional Council has invited applications to participate in a "100 exemplary farms and farm co-operatives" project with a view to helping the regional farming sector to adopt an overall environmental approach.  The approach aims to develop comprehensive energy, water and waste management on farms with support from their professional networks.

To do this, GERES has provided its technical expertise to two farming organizations, Bio de Provence (a federation of organic farmers) and CIVAM PACA, on energy and waste management issues.

To begin with, the Regional Council and participating networks are seeking to build up a system of benchmarks for exemplary operations in order to establish the level of aid for the investment phase. Subsequently, a detailed plan of action will be drawn up to be applied by the farms selected following the call for applications.
