GERES news -
News in brief
GERES and NEXUS are finalist of the competition organized by AFD (Agence Française de Développement), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank.
In the 20 initiatives that were shortlisted out of 800 project proposals, only two French NGOs have been selected among which GERES, with the creation of an ethical and innovative financial mechanism, dedicated to the sustainable development projects supported by the members of the Nexus alliance.
GERES will be present at the Marketplace event, to be held on March 4-5 at Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris. It will present the details of this financial mechanism to an international jury composed of 110 experts from the finance and development sectors. Organised by Agence Française de Développement, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank, the event offers five grants of up to US$ 100.000 to be awarded to the winners.
The Marketplace seeks to garner and highlight fresh ideas on financial solutions for development. It is dedicated to innovative financial mechanisms for better mobilizing, channelling, and using funds. Expected outcomes of the event are to advance the innovative development finance agenda, facilitate South-South learning and knowledge sharing, and generate cutting-edge projects.
