The Sustainable Rural Development project startedkirghizistan-serre-solaire

The project led by GERES in Tajikistan aims to improve living conditions of 1 000 rural households among the most vulnerable (more than 5 children, with disabled persons). GERES leans on 10 years of experiment in mountainous areas and cold climate (Afghanistan, India, and Mongolia) to strengthen the agricultural activities and improve the comfort in the housing environment.

The objective is to contribute to the socio-economic development and poverty reduction. Besides it aims at the environmental protection and more specifically its consideration by the local authorities and the civil society at the level of the development processes.

Concretely, GERES is planning the construction of 100 passive solar greenhouses, 30 solar poultry farms, 22 bioclimatic cellars and 2 cooperatives of markets. The most vulnerable populations will have access in winter to vegetables, eggs, chicken, and apples. On the other hand, by isolating houses, doubling the glazing, proposing efficient stoves, the average temperature of the living room increases and will reduce the pressure on biomass resources and the need for fuel.
