Donate to the cause of an energy transition for all
The energy transition has become a keychallenge for our own and our planet's future. Everyone can take part, each at their own level. We are now inviting you to make a commitment with us. 4 million French people are suffering fuel poverty and unable to pay their bills. More than 2.5 billion people in the South heat their homes or cook using inefficient wood-burning appliances that are hazardous to their health. For more than 40 years, GERES has been designing and applying reliable, affordable, low-carbon solutions tailored to the context of each country, for mass dissemination. These include bioclimatic housing and greenhouses, thermal insulation, energy saving, low-energy cookers, small-scale hydroelectricity, waste recycling and solar technologies. Solutions like this are no use unless they reach the largest possible number of people. Your donation to GERES will help to disseminate them and roll out their impacts on a wide scale. So why are you waiting? Come and join us in bringing about this energy transition for all!
By making a donation to GERES, you can help to enhance the benefits of our projects in France and around the world.
31 Tajik women artisans trained to make improved stoves
Formerly a housewife with no professional qualifications, Madina Isoyeva attended several training courses to become an experienced maker of "Nepali" stoves. Made of mud bricks and clay and placed directly on the floor of the kitchen, this outdoor stove has proved extremely economical in wood and charcoal use. It has a combustion chamber with two burners so that users can cook and heat water for washing at the same time. Madina has so far made and sold 30 stoves in her village, which has brought her an income equivalent to €300. She is hoping to increase her business and disseminate the technology by demonstrating the model for the stove on the markets in her region. Here, at a local fair in Ayni to promote fair access to energy efficiency.
Integration of climate instability into local governing has become an absolute necessity for many local authorities, in the North and in the South. The ClimTerr Toolkit was designed to be used by territorial agents of the Ferlo Region in Senegal, but it will inspire any local government looking to implement local climate policies.
Carbon finance platform to estimate the potential of your project
The website of the Alliance is dedicated to cooking energy issues and solutions (improved stoves, briquettes and biogas). It has just launched its carbon finance platform in collaboration with GERES, South Pole Carbon Asset Management and other technical partners. More than a complete source of information about this subject, the carbon finance platform offers a unique and simplified calculation tool for project developers.
Committed to supporting GERES since 2010, in India, Mongolia and now Benin, Synergie Solaire hosted its annual charity dinner on 13 November, bringing together 200 stakeholders in the French renewable energy sector.

The last climate conference (COP19) once again left a bitter taste in the mouths of those who followed the progress of the negotiations. Maybe a more "positive" mobilization would yield a more effective strategy for achieving an ambitious agreement?
189 countries met in Warsaw last month with a view to taking joint decisions concerning the future of the planet. Despite good intentions, this great gathering began to look like a stalemate in chess with all the pawns left staring at each other and refusing to advance. It really is so hard to move beyond individual interests.
Moving on from this, all our hopes for a new and satisfactory agreement rest on the next two key dates: Lima 2014 and Paris 2015. A good start seems to have been made, since France and Peru have demonstrated their commitment to working together to achieve signature of a satisfactory compromise in two years' time.
