Name

The Association is designated under the following name : GERES : Groupe Energies Renouvelables et Environnement (Renewable Energy and Environment Group).
It is a non-profit-making organisation governed by the French law of 1st July 1901.
Its head offices are situated : 2, Cours Maréchal Foch – 13400 Aubagne – France. These may be transferred to any other location on simple decision from the Board of Directors.
Its duration is unlimited.

Purpose

The Association proposes to contribute to the development of the rational use of energy, particularly in its renewable forms, and to aid in environment management actions, in various application fields. This development calls for co-ordinated action on the part of the actors in the various concerned sectors, as well as with specialists from various disciplines.

The Association’s task is to work with the various partners in the field, not only on a local or regional scale, but also on a national and international scale.

GERES role is to provide information, training, advice, links, operations monitoring, data processing and results spreading. It’s aim is in no case to take the place of other organisations (laboratories, schools, etc), but solely to fulfil the function that each one of these taken separately could not achieve. GERES will fulfil this function either at the request of a given organisation, or where it deems it necessary, by proposing various co-ordinated actions to prospective partners.

Governance

The Association is managed by a Board of Directors which includes at least 8 members chosen among the active members to form a diversified and balanced representation among administrations and local councils, scientists and researchers, professionals and private individuals, NGO....

The directors are elected by the General Meeting through secret ballot for a period of four years, and are reeligible. Their numbers are renewed by half every two years, the names of the first directors to be renewed are pulled out of a hat.
