GERES staffing

As at 31 December 2010, GERES has 183 direct employees:

21 working in France, including

• 10 under head office contracts
• 11 under contract to GERES France

162 working abroad, including

• 17 under expatriate contracts
• 6 under voluntary international solidarity contracts (VSI)
• 136 under local contracts
• 3 permanent international consultants

Headquarters

Based in France (Aubagne), GERES headquarters has twelve staff working in the administrative, financial, expertise, development, IT and communications departments.
GERES France teams are stationed at headquarters, which also hosts the “Pays d’Aubagne and Etoile” Energy Information Centre.

Local offices around the world

GERES deploys permanent teams of various sizes in the countries where it operates to monitor the implementation of development programmes as close to stakeholders as possible.
Long-established teams in Cambodia (Phnom Penh), India (Leh, Delhi) and Afghanistan (Kabul) have large numbers of staff (between 20 and 50 people).

In France (Aubagne, Marseille), Benin (Bohicon) and Mali (Koutiala), numbers vary between 5 and 15 people, while in Niger (Niamey), Morocco (Rabat), Mongolia (Ulan Bator) and Tajikistan (Dushanbe), the structures are still regarded as "incubators" developed by a small team (between 1 and  3 people).

GERES may also be asked to provide expertise (diagnostic studies, research, etc.) in countries where it is not represented. In recent years, GERES has worked in this way in China and Kyrghyzstan.
