Energy Information Center – Marseille Provence

Action completed

France - Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region

2003 - 2013

Set up by ADEME in 2001 as part of the national plan to improve energy efficiency, the network of Energy Information Centres (EICs) has been developed with local partnerships to offer the general public an information service on saving energy, rational use of energy and renewable energies.

The Energy Information Centres (EIE – Espaces Infos > Energie) advise the public and assist individuals with insulation work, drawing attention to the local network of professionals capable of carrying out such work and helping individuals to take action (assistance with finance, technical and statutory support).

The work of the EIC mainly comprises two types of activity:

  • receiving the public at the centre: responding to requests for information and advice
  • carrying out specific local projects: targeting a specific audience that does not spontaneously apply to the EIC in order to increase its reach

In 2010, the EIC ended the year with a flagship event during the first “Energy Festival”. The “Give thermal insulation a try” operation showed more than 1000 people the importance of insulating their homes properly.

Since May 1st, 2013, GERES is no longer in charge of this energy information center. It has been handed over to the “Agence Locale de l’Energie”
