GERES has a new Executive Director

New faces have arrived at the direction of GERES! Alain Guinebault, who led our NGO for 25 years, is preparing to retire. Mathieu Ruillet has taken over as new Executive Director as of May 1st, 2015.

Mathieu has been working at GERES for the past 10 years. His career has taken him on many fields: France, Afghanistan, Morocco, and lately Cambodia and Myanmar as regional director for GERES Southeast Asia. He has a broad vision of our organization, our projects, our teams, our partners, our history and our strategy.

A new position of Deputy Executive Director has also been assigned to Laurence Tommasino. Laurence joined GERES last February, after 15 years spent working in rural development in the field, in France, in Madagascar and more recently in Myanmar as country director for GRET. Laurence is bringing to GERES a proven operational experience in the development sector in accordance with GERES’ high standards of quality in its operations since 1976.

Mathieu Ruillet and Laurence Tommasino are at the disposal of those who would like to meet with them. Alain Guinebault continues to be involved at their side as part-time executive advisor until the end of the year.

The Board and the entire GERES staff would like to address their appreciation to Alain Guinebault for the work he has accomplished at the head of GERES for 25 years. His vision has allowed a small association of few people to turn into an NGO of 200 staff that impacts millions of lives around the world every year. We wish him well in his future projects and say welcome to the new direction!
