Morocco: opening of a first Energy Information Center in Chefchaouen

As part of the National Sustainable week, the first Energy Information Center (EIC) in Morocco was inaugurated in the city of Chefchaouen on the 22nd of April.

GERES had the opportunity to share its expertise on the inauguration day, during which initiatives linked to energy efficiency were introduced and promoted. An “energy saving forum” was held an offered various informative booths about sustainable energy development projects, rallying many institutional actors and local associations.

Being a part of ADEREE*’s Jiha Tinou project and being integrated in the Municipal Plan for the Development of Renewable Energies, this EIC aims at informing and disseminating best practices in energy efficiency to a broad audience (professionals and individuals).

The opening of an Energy Information Center is an unprecedented initiative in Morocco, and it has become a “pilot case” before the opening of new centers in other Moroccan cities.
