Energy Day in Morocco

In the context of FreemE, a project supported by the European Union, the French Development Agency, PMF-FEM/PNUD, GDF Suez and Alstom ; Ardi Foundation, PlaNet Finance, ADEME, GERES and other partners organize the Energy Day which will be held on 25th October at the Bellota Ecomuseum in the Chefchaouen region.

Casablanca, 17 October 2011 – The first objective of the Energy Day is to promote the project to microcredit beneficiaries, clients of Ardi Foundation and the regional main actors who are interested. The second objective is to raise awareness about environmental issues, existing renewable energy sources and a more efficient energy use.

This day will be an opportunity to launch new activities for 10 Ardi Foundation branches and to promote equipments and services in clean technology for the productive use of small companies.

Organized with the support of Rif Association for Sustainable Development – Bellota (ARDB) and in collaboration with the Association Marocaine des Petits Débrouillards (AMPD), the project partners will run workshops in order to present the various existing energy sources as well as efficient energy equipments and services of renewable energy production that will be promoted by FreemE.

A microcredit workshop organized by Ardi Foundation will close the event, presenting the importance of microcredit in the project, the selected branches and the different steps to access FreemE.

The objective of FreemE (to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency) is to support sustainable development, access and use of sustainable renewable energy and efficient energy services through microfinance in Morocco and Egypt.

Launched in April 2010 in Morocco by a consortium of European and local partners, the project is run by PlaNet Finance, an international solidarity organization working for the microfinance development in partnership with the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), the Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity (GERES), the Moroccan Agency for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ADEREE), Ardi Foundation, a microcredit organization and the Groupe d’Etudes et de Recherche sur les Energies Renouvelables et l’Environnement (GERERE).
