As part of our “Kabul Green Homes” program, Geres Afghanistan and the National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) have organized a national conference to “Combat Energy Poverty, Climate Change and Air pollution in Afghanistan” at the end of November.<\/p>\n

In front of an audience of 170 people, the aim\u00a0was to share lessons learned from Kabul Green Homes Project to raise awareness about energy efficiency in households and to improve coordination between all the stakeholders.<\/p>\n

With the support of the European Union (EU-Switch Asia) and the French Development Agency, NEPA and the Kabul Green Homes<\/a> team, who applies solar passive and energy solutions in 15 districts of the city where housing, heating and pollution problems are most acute, gathered participants from national and international organizations, UN agencies, local institutions, professors and students, small business owners and trained artisans.<\/p>\n

The media were also there to broadcast the event and help us convey our message to a wider audience. About 8 TV channels participated overall.<\/p>\n

This large turnout shows that Afghanistan is taking the issue of energy poverty, pollution and, more broadly, climate change very seriously.<\/p>\n

We hope this event will have contributed to paving the way for more awareness, more collaboration and more energy solutions for the population of Kabul.<\/p>\n
