<\/strong>Use a fan and\/or air blower rather than air conditioning in your home<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Did you know? A fan uses ten times less energy than an air conditioner.<\/p>\n
Even if the fan does not cool the air, it stirs it and makes people feel cooler by evaporating sweat from the skin. More economical than air conditioning, it is also more ecological. Why is it so? Generally speaking, turning the fan’s propeller uses much less energy than heating or cooling, which is the role of air conditioning.<\/p>\n
Fatma, for example, a beneficiary of Geres’ energy advice in Marseille, confided to us this year that air conditioning had contributed to a 390 euro increase in her electricity bill over the year. This is a real cost that can quickly weigh on the budget of the most modest households.<\/p>\n
Secondly, air conditioning is dangerous for the planet because it also contributes to warming up cities by releasing heat outside.<\/p>\n
The more people use it, the higher the temperatures in urban areas can rise, by up to 2\u00b0. Finally, air conditioning contributes to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, in the event of a refrigerant leak for example, and can also cause health risks for people if it is set too cold (around and below 20\u00b0C).<\/p>\n
