MOBILIZATION

Since its beginnings, Geres has worked to promote Climate Solidarity through its field operations. Relying on multi-stakeholder partnerships built around the issue since 2008, we now make rallying everyone to this cause a major strategic focus of our association’s aims and objectives.

Missions and challenges

Our ambition at Geres is to raise the widest possible awareness of climate change and its effects, striving to highlight the ensuing inequalities.

Our ambition at Geres is to raise the widest possible awareness of climate change and its effects, striving to highlight the ensuing inequalities.

With this in mind, we seek to explain and illustrate how some have followed and are following development paths which already place them or are taking them above the ecological ceiling, whereas others face limited access to energy or are directly impacted by climate change so that they find themselves below the social floor.

We want to show that it is possible to take action to reach that ideal space between social floor and ecological ceiling, between decent living conditions and natural resource protection.

Whoever you are, associations, citizens or consumers, it’s time to get in marching order, to take action at your own level and in a co-ordinated way, to create exciting synergies. The scale and pace of the climate crisis do not allow us to choose our timing or to undertake isolated actions. We need to act now, together!

Geres operates in several different ways

With citizens

By organizing awareness events, as here at the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations in Marseille for the association’s 40-year anniversary in 2017.

By developing a digital mobilization platform for the adoption of climate-friendly moves.

By facilitating education sessions for citizens on climate change and the notion of Climate Solidarity it inspires.

With the private sector

  • Geres works together with businesses keen to engage with climate change issues and link them to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Geres places itself at the service of businesses wishing to take action on their own level. We help them to identify their carbon footprint and support them in implementing a plan of action to reduce their emissions so that they can approach carbon neutrality via support for climate-compatible field operations.
  • Geres also facilitates business networks in France (Sud-PACA region and at national level), thereby creating a forum for company directors committed to Climate Solidarity to share their experience, exchange skills and design collective initiatives.

The SDG’s at the heart of the climate challenge

The fight against climate change is at the core of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations. Each commitment to Climate Solidarity therefore necessarily produces a positive effect on the achievement of one or several SDGs.
