Summary and Geres role
This consultancy was undertaken in connection with the S-RET (Scaling up of Renewable Energy Technology (RET) adoption in the agriculture and rural development sector) programme funded by IFAD in Cambodia.
Geres dealt with:
- analysis of Renewable Energy Technology (RET) solutions to boost the climate change resilience of the agricultural sector in Cambodia, especially aimed at small farmers;
- development of a comprehensive booklet introducing the potential economic and social impacts of five forms of RET: solar systems for water pumps, solar systems for hatcheries and henhouses, cooking energy (improved stoves, sustainable charcoal and charcoal briquettes) and briquettes made of agricultural residues;
- preparation of five technical datasheets to inform thinking on the conditions/stages necessary for wide-scale adoption.
