The study’s aim was to highlight the relevance of investment in energy equipment for productive purposes, its impacts on the performance and productivity of a business and other parameters. It sought to identify the potential risks and recommend tools and strategies to mitigate those risks.
55 businesses were studied and 102 interviews were conducted with rural SMEs.
- Full analysis of three potential off-grid projects requiring energy investment: solar refrigeration, solar pumping for agriculture and a solar mill.
The business plans for these three activities specify the main economic trends, the critical and variable data for each activity and the finance options if credit is needed.
- Practical tools to be used for replication. A toolkit contains the tools and recommendations for each stage of support to entrepreneurship.
- 18 technical datasheets to put rural businesses, their energy needs and economic development into perspective.
